Alumni Focus - Nicholas Krueger ('10)
Nicholas Krueger’s (‘10) commitment to Christian education is evident not only in his words but also in his actions. You can find him on the greens of the summer SCLA Golf Classic, where his enthusiasm for the school shines brightly. Beyond the golf course, Nick is a familiar face around town, diligently working to turn real estate dreams into reality for his clients. His hard work, coupled with his dedication to education and community, paints a portrait of an alumnus who makes a difference in the lives of others.
What were you involved with at SCLA?
I played basketball, soccer, and golf. I also played trumpet in concert and jazz band.
Did you have a favorite class?
As somebody who has a creative brain, art was always my favorite. I enjoyed drawing and sketching.
Did any SCLA teachers have an influence on you?
It’s hard to choose because each teacher had an influence in their own way. However, Ellen Kuznicki was probably my overall favorite. At the time I really didn’t understand it, but she prepared us for college (and life) by respectfully being a bit tougher and requiring more out of us. I enjoyed her class (even though I’m still not a fan of reading.)
What makes you passionate about SCLA to this day?
I like seeing SCLA continue to be an option for those who want a Christian education, building God’s kingdom of believers, whether that student is from here or another country. In a world that is constantly pulling away from God, our light needs to shine a bit brighter.
Could you tell us about your work and why you wanted to give back to SCLA through the business partnership program?
I started my real estate business shortly after graduating from the University of Wisconsin - Eau Claire. Most realtors get into the industry later in their careers after they have built connections, but I wanted to use the experience I learned from the restaurant industry and continue serving people by choosing to be a realtor from the beginning. Running a successful real estate business almost a decade later, I continue to make real estate dreams a reality, whether a client is buying, selling, investing, or building new.
As my business grows, I want to give back to the places and people that helped shape who I am today. I give back not only as an alumnus, but as a person who wants to see a brighter Christian future for the community. Being in a public industry, my opportunities to witness are limited. Therefore I want to give where I know a Christian education is the foundation.
What has your career path looked like and how were you led to where you are today?
After I graduated college, I found the sales industry fit my personality and future goals. As I interviewed for a job through traditional routes, funny enough I simply responded to a Facebook ad about being a real estate agent. After many talks with family and friends, I jumped in headfirst and never looked back. Since then, I’ve helped a few from SCLA move.
Anything else you’d like to share?
The SCLA Golf Classic event is one of my favorite business events to be a part of. It’s fun being able to connect with past alumni that my parents know or went to school with. Thankfully this year the weather cooperated. If you golf, look for my brand on a sponsored hole!
