Choral Instrumental Drama Visual Arts

Students interested in music, drama, or visual arts will find many opportunities for creative expression at SCL. In addition to credit courses in the choral, instrumental, and visual arts, students may choose to participate in co-curricular activities including:

  • Chapel Band
  • Croixaliers
  • Children’s Theatre
  • Spring Musical
  • Jazz Band
  • Ensembles
  • Speech Team

Performances

  • Fall Concert – The fall concert features an eclectic blend of sacred and secular music presented by band and choral students in late October.
  • WELS Choral Festival – The Croixaliers represent SCL along with hundreds of other students from WELS high schools at this annual festival in November, which includes a pop concert and sacred concert.
  • Children's Theatre - SCL drama students present a children's theatre production to local grade schools and the public in mid-November.
  • Middle School Christmas Concert – In December, middle school students perform choral and instrumental selections to celebrate Christ’s birth.
  • High School Christmas Concert – Choral and instrumental students perform traditional and contemporary sacred Christmas selections at the annual Christmas concert.
  • Tri-Metro Fine Arts Festival – This cooperative concert is held each year in January or February. Select SCL choral and instrumental students perform with other high school students from conference schools.
  • Gathering Grounds Variety Show – Students share their unique talents in this variety show and fundraiser for the music department.
  • WELS Band Festival – Nominees from the SCL instrumental music program perform at a host school in mid-March. Guest clinicians evaluate performances and help select members of the honors band.
  • Band Concert – Band students in grades 6-12 perform at this secular music concert in February or early-March.
  • Spring Sacred Choral Concert – All choral students in grades 9-12 perform sacred music to commemorate the passion and resurrection of Christ.
  • Twin Cities Fine Arts Festival (TCFAF) - The TCFAF is a solo/ensemble and visual art festival held in April for grade school and middle school students from the West Lutheran Association and St. Croix Lutheran Association schools, culminating in a sacred concert.
  • High School Play or Musical - High school drama students present a classic play or musical to the public in the spring.
  • Middle School Band Concert and Musical - Middle school band students join with area elementary band students for an end-of-the-year concert followed by a musical. 
  • Spring Pops - Band and choral students lead the celebration of the end of the school year with the Spring Pops Concert.
